Day 1: Morning

Kick off your journey by catching the Rottnest Express ferry from Fremantle to Rottnest Island. The scenic 30-minute ferry ride offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, making it a delightful start to your trip. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by stunning turquoise waters and a laid-back atmosphere that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Begin your exploration in the main settlement just a short walk from the jetty, where you can take a leisurely stroll along the beach and soak up the sun. Be sure to visit the museum to learn more about the island’s history, captivating ecology, and, of course, its famous residents, the adorable quokkas.

Late Morning

Don’t forget to pre-book bike hire with your ferry ticket and collect it on arrival to the island, they can easily be rented with Rottnest Express. Cycling is the best way to navigate the island at your own pace, with over 30 kilometres of bike paths winding through scenic landscapes and hidden beaches.

Stop by the bakery for a quick snack and the chance to snap some photos with the friendly quokkas. These small marsupials are appropriately coined the ‘happiest animals on the planet’, and their playful nature will surely put a smile on your face. Remember not to touch or feed them, giving them plenty of space when taking your photos with them.

Afternoon

As noon approaches, head to The Basin, a picture-perfect swimming spot with crystal-clear waters and soft, white sand. Relax on the beach or take a dip to refresh yourself before lunch.

Late Afternoon

Stop at the West End of a short walk out onto the boardwalks to view sea birds and marine life before finishing off in the main settlement.

Day 2: Morning
