Join us as we uncover the island’s top photogenic locations for your next visit.
Pinky Beach
First up, Pinky Beach! This iconic island location is just a short stroll from the main settlement and boasts picture-perfect powdery white sands met by crystal-clear turquoise waters. But what truly sets Pinky Beach apart from the rest is its reputation as one of the widest and longest stretches of beach on the island, as well as its proximity to the famous Rottnest Island silhouette – Bathurst Lighthouse.
Make sure to stick around for sunset to capture the renowned Pinky’s sunset and snap pictures as the sky puts on a vibrant show. Climb the steps up to Bathurst Lighthouse, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Indian Ocean as the sun dips below the horizon.

Little Parakeet Bay
Enjoy a scenic journey out to Little Parakeet Bay and capture a postcard-worthy shot of Wadjemup Lighthouse reflecting over the salt lakes before you arrive. Once you’ve snapped your perfect photo, dive into all that this stunning north-side bay has to offer. With a sheltered cove nestled behind a rocky outcrop, Little Parakeet Bay boasts pearly white sand and an abundance of marine life beneath the waves.
Don’t forget to bring your snorkelling gear, as you’ll want to document the incredible underwater world of this beautiful little bay. From vibrant coral reefs to fascinating sea creatures, Little Parakeet Bay is a true paradise for both photographers and nature lovers alike!

The West End
Head out to The West End (the island’s westernmost point) to capture more of the island’s wild side. Here the coastline is less sheltered from the elements, resulting in a more rugged and dramatic landscape compared to the rest of the island.
Have your camera ready to snap stunning photographs of Fish Hook Bay’s emerald waters and wind-sculpted rock formations. Walk to the end of the boardwalk for uninterrupted views of waves rolling in from the Indian Ocean and keep an eye out for the unique wildlife that inhabits this breathtaking spot.
Wildlife highlights: Spot long-nosed fur seals lazing in the sun at Cathedral Rocks, look for ospreys perched proudly on their long-standing nest, and, between September and November, watch for humpback whales passing The West End on their southern migration along the Humpback Highway.
How to get to The West End: Jump on a bike and cycle 10km through the centre of the Island, hop on the bus or visit this popular spot among others on the Discover Rottnest Bus Tour.

Wadjemup Lighthouse
For those keen to uncover Rottnest Island’s history while capturing sweeping ocean views, Wadjemup Lighthouse is a must-visit.
Standing at the centre of the island, the lighthouse rises an impressive 38 metres above the landscape. From this elevated vantage point, you can take in uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean in every direction. Take a guided climb to discover how the lighthouse works, then step outside to enjoy the sea breeze and panoramic views from the island’s highest point.
