Join Rottnest Express in the greatest quokka search Rotto has ever seen! It’s a school holidays activity that’s fun for the entire family, and this year it’s in partnership with the Rottnest Foundation, meaning your participation supports quokka conservation on Rottnest Island.

All you need to do to take part is book travel to Rottnest Island between 26^th September – 11^th October 2026 and pick up your activity sheet before hopping on the ferry. Then, let the search begin! Simply spot all 10 quokka characters hidden at popular island locations and businesses, and hand your completed activity sheet to a team member to WIN your Rottnest Foundation quokka conservation hero prize*.

The Rottnest Foundation is an independent Western Australian charity, established in 1985, dedicated to protecting Rottnest Island’s environment, culture and heritage, including the famous (and adorable) quokkas!

Rottnest is home to the world’s largest known quokka population. Despite this, quokkas are classified as vulnerable, and their future depends on ongoing research, monitoring and habitat management. This is where the Foundation comes in with:

Quokka research and monitoring — funding to help track population health and behaviour which helps to guide conservation plans
Habitat protection — providing funding for the revegetation of bushland and our volunteer community are involved in planting native seedlings to grow woodland habitat.

None of this would be possible without your support, which is why the Rottnest Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks for your participation and proudly serves as the provider of your prize this September.

How to Complete the Search:

Book your ferry ticket to Rottnest Island between the 26th October – 11th September 2026 with your Quokka Club membership number, you are allowed 1 entry per child.
You do not need to register your entry into this FREE event, just collect your activity sheet before departure from one of our reservations desks at the terminal before boarding your ferry to Rottnest Island.
Venture around the main settlement and surrounding businesses to spot all 10 of the quokka characters, all quokkas are in areas accessible to the public and are no more than a 20-minute walk from the main jetty.
Write down where you found each quokka, there is no right or wrong order.
Once you have completed your list simply show it to a crew member on your return ferry back to Fremantle or Perth to redeem your prize.

Remember: Parents have access to the solutions list below to aid children in their hunt but try your best to find the quokkas for yourself first!

How do I register to participate?

All you have to do to take part in The Great Rottnest Express Quokka Search is purchase a ferry ticket with an eligible Quokka Club membership for a departure between 26th September – 11th October 2026.

Then just collect your activity sheet for each participant from the reservations desk prior to boarding your ferry to Rottnest Island, all further instructions are above and on the sheet.

What if I’m not a Quokka Club Member?

This offer is to all Quokka Club members, if you are not yet a member and are under 12 years of age and a WA resident you can sign-up via our website. Then simply purchase your ticket to travel using your membership and collect your Quokka Club passport from our reservations desk.

Please note that we require you to sign up online prior to arriving at the terminal.

What happens if I can’t find all of the quokkas?

We promise that all of the quokka posters are in easy to find locations within a 20-minute walk of the main jetty, however if you are really struggling to find all of the 10 eggs there is a solutions list linked above for parents to access.

Terms & Conditions

Available for same day & extended stay return travel only.
Valid for departures between the 26th September – 11th October.
Participants can sign up to be a Quokka Club member online via the link above.
Participants must show their valid Quokka Club passport at any Rottnest Express terminal to enter the promotion. Strictly 1 entry per Quokka Club member.
Promotion is open for children 12 years and under, supervised by an adult 18 years and over.
To be involved in this promotion participants must hold a valid Rottnest Express Quokka Club ticket for a departure between the 26th September – 11th October 2026 and collect their activity sheet from the reservations desk prior to boarding the ferry on their day of travel. Participants will not be able to join the competition once on the island.
On their return, they must present their completed sheet to a crew member on their return ferry to Fremantle or Perth to redeem their Rottnest Express prize.
This prize cannot be exchanged for cash.
Prizes are while stocks last and are subject to availability.
Rottnest Express is not responsible for any costs associated with prize collection and participation in the promotion.
