The B Shed terminal, and surrounding jetty area, is currently undergoing redevelopment to deliver a modern Rottnest ferry terminal and improved visitor experience within the much-loved heritage cargo shed. The $30m project is being undertaken by Fremantle Ports and is expected to be complete in August 2028.
Once completed, inside the new ferry terminal will include ticketing offices for ferry operators, a larger all-weather waiting area for the public, a cafe, restrooms and an information/interpretation centre. Outside, there will be a new additional ferry berth at B Shed and improvements to the surrounding area where the public will be able to congregate when waiting for ferries.
Fremantle Ports is working closely with all ferry operators to ensure access for vessels and guests is maintained during the project with clearly marked, secure pedestrian pathways implemented to ensure smooth and safe passage to the ferries throughout the construction period. Rottnest Express ferries will continue to arrive and depart as scheduled from O’Connor Landing and C Shed, with the Rottnest Express office currently located on the grassed area near E Shed.
The existing O’Connor Landing ‘kiss and ride’ car park used for luggage drop off will close during the project and whilst an adjacent drop off facility will be created, there are expected to be impacts on both luggage drop off and parking availability in the surrounding area, so guests are encouraged to arrive 45-60 minutes prior to your ferry to allow time for parking and organising luggage delivery. Alternatively, you can travel from our Northport terminal in Rous Head to take advantage of our newly renovated facilities including a licensed café, self-service luggage kiosk, and ample available parking within the terminal making for a stress-free start to your Rottnest Adventure.
