Plenty of people come to Rottnest with the aim of not doing very much at all! The white-sand beaches here are tailor-made for lazing, but Rottnest Express packages can also get you out biking, snorkelling, bus touring, riding on a high-speed adventure boat…even skydiving or riding a Segway.
You can ferry out to Rottnest in the morning then return in the afternoon, but why rush it? There are some fabulous places to stay on the island, from self-contained cabins and cottages to hotel suites, backpacker dorms and campsites.
Terrific food and drink are highlights of any Rottnest experience: there’s an undeniable decadence in every culinary encounter here, whether you’re picking up supplies for a beach picnic, enjoying a pizza or seafood lunch at a restaurant or sipping a sundowner on the Hotel Rottnest terrace.
Almost everyone on Rottnest gets around by bicycle, but there are some fabulous walking trails here too. Linked under the banner of ‘Wadjemup Bidi’, five dedicated trail sections cover 45km of island terrain, from clifftops and beaches and saltpans and dunes.
