Skipper Lachie and Tour Guide Eli were on point. Unfortunately we were limited to the northern area of the island due to the southerly winds. Eli is extremely knowledgeable about Rottnest. I would highly recommend you go on this tour on your rottnest experience. This is my second trip and I loved it just as much a the first time.
Ferry excellent but the star of the day was Sophie on the accompanying bus tour. She was animated, informed and informal and to top it all, it was her birthday!
Rottnest Express Adventure Boat Tour — equal parts wildlife documentary and extreme sportWe did the Rottnest speed boat adventure cruise today with my husband, our 13-year-old and our 9-year-old, and WOW! What an experience.First, let’s talk about Max, our tour guide, zoologist, wildlife whisperer, comedian, historian and (as it turns out) bar-staff on the ferry home. This man is a national treasure. He had us laughing and learning nonstop as we saw sea lions, a 70-year-old active osprey nest (with actual ospreys flying around it), and a huge pod of dolphins that felt like a real-life David Attenborough moment. He also shared the Indigenous history of Wadjemup (Rottnest Island) with warmth, respect and clarity. Then we bumped into him later working the bar like it was no big deal. Multitalented, brilliant, and genuinely lovely. Someone please give Max a raise. He’s absolutely smashing his job. Now… Jodie, our skipper.Look, she is clearly an incredibly experienced and highly skilled captain. HOWEVER… I sat near the front of the boat (despite being warned) and spent a good chunk of the ride feeling like I was starring in my own maritime disaster movie. I screamed. A lot. I had to apologise to the poor people in front of me for shrieking in their ears. That said… while I felt like I was going to die, Jodie rode the thin line between “thrilling roller-coaster” and “perfectly safe” like a true professional. It was fast, wild, and insanely fun, and I had the biggest grin on my face the entire time. Pro tip: sit further back if you enjoy living calmly 😂The kids loved it. We loved it. It was exciting, funny, educational and completely unforgettable. If you’re going to Rottnest and you don’t do this tour, you are genuinely missing out.10/10 — would scream again. 🚤🐬🦭
A big thank you to Jamie who helped us to drive us with his own car to the right address for return because the lady who made our booking didn't specify about that. Jamie, you've been so kind to drop us (after work) to the other point to get our cars and pick up the rest of our family. You are one of a kind! Thank you! What goes around comes around! 🙏
Rotto express is awesome. The staff are relaxed and happy to help. Nothing is a problem. You give them your bags and the next time you see them they are at your unit/accommodation. They are happy to change the ferry if needed and they help you out if you need it. Making your holiday experience less stressful. We’ve travelled a lot to Rotto and we’ve turned up to earlier ferries, changed to later ferries - luggage has been lost (our fault) and they call around to find it and get it on the next ferry. Considering the amount of people who travel to Rotto that is a pretty amazing effortWell done to all the (predominantly young) staff! 🙌
