A Perth Festival Commission.
Across a city connected by its river, Witness Stand is an invitation to sit, listen and reflect together at special sites of cultural and historical significance along the banks of the Swan River and Rottnest Island.
It’s an invitation to gather and spend learning time together listening to specially commissioned sound works paying homage to the ancient stories of Whadjuk country and acknowledging the interruptions to this place caused by colonisation.
The event begins at 5:30pm and runs for 60 minutes with performances between Friday, 19 February and Saturday, 13 March.
Location:
Witness Stand takes place on the beach near the Natural Jetty, on the foreshore of the island’s most eastern point which is a short walk from Kingstown Barracks.
To access the grandstand, walk to the end of Kingstown Road past chalet 153 and down onto the beach. The grandstand is located 200m across the beach through soft sand.
