One of the big-ticket events on the annual SwimRun WA calendar, the Rottnest SwimRun lures hundreds of endurance competitors to the island every November.
Entrants race over a challenging 33km round-the-island course, consisting of 10 swim legs (a total of 4.4km) and 10 running legs (a total of 28.3km). Swimming sections traverse some of the island’s most beautiful bays and beaches; running legs are a combo of thigh-busting beach runs and rugged trails.
What’s the catch? SwimRun is a team event – each team has 2 entrants, both of whom must complete the entire course side-by-side.
There are 300 competitors in total consisting of male-male, female-female and male-female teams – the fastest duos complete the course in around 3¼ hours. Impressive!
