The Express Fleet
Designed for speed and comfort
The crossing from Fremantle to Rottnest is renowned for being one of the roughest in the southern hemisphere. Our fleet of three high-speed, ocean-going ferries (“Star Flyte Express”, “Eagle Express”, and “MV Sea Eagle Express”) have been specifically designed to counter these conditions and today Rottnest Express is known for its smooth, fast and safe crossings in any conditions.
The fleet has undergone extensive refurbishment. In 2008 the fully refurbished Eagle Express was relaunched. This was closely followed by the Star Flyte in October, 2008. Both are equipped with modern interiors and facilities, fully licensed bar and have an impressive exterior making them the most luxurious ferry to travel to Rottnest Island or on the Swan River. The Sea Eagle was relaunched in December, 2008. With these upgrades the standard of ferry travel in Perth is now exceeding all expectations and competing on the world’s stage.

A new addition to the fleet
The Eco Express is the newest addition to the fleet. The concept and design of the Naiad originated from New Zealand and is based on safe cruising at high speeds. This concept has now been refined by Rob Kirby of Kirby Marine who recently won in the category of Boat of the Year 2008 as well as receiving recognition in the AMIF Awards on the Gold coast earlier this year.

These world class craft are custom built for environmental cruising. Tiered forward facing seating creates an all round view for everyone on board while the covered open air seating allows for direct interaction with nature.
All passengers have a clear view of their surrounds in the open air, whilst the operator at the rear of the vessel has full view of all the occupants, overseeing that the safety and care of all passengers is maintained.
This vessel allows Island visitors to venture into untouched, undiscovered areas of Rottnest Island without impacting on the precious environment. It provides a unique experience for the tourist, allowing a connection between the person, the landscape and the sea like never before.
