From Governor’s Cottage, to the jewel in the crown….

Construction of the original building began in 1859, and was completed by 1864, serving as the summer residence of WA’s Governor’s until 1912. Planning for Governor’s Cottage to become accommodation facilities began in 1913, and opened in 1917. At this time the Rottnest Island Board of Control was created, and the island was opened to tourism in 1953.

In November 2007 Garrett Hospitality was granted the lease to operate the Quokka Arms the hotel name has now been reformed back to its original name Hotel Rottnest. In May 2008 we began the first stage of the historic hotel’s transformation. The original central governors residence building is being restored, the main bar and kitchen has been completely rebuilt, the courtyard landscaped with a new island bar added, and the accommodation totally refurbished.

Accommodation

Hotel Rottnest’s rooms have a fresh new feel, and modern décor. Located at the south end of the venue the rooms are only meters away from majestic Thompson Bay. The property boasts four bayside ocean view rooms with their own private courtyard only steps from the ocean. The remainder of the rooms are courtside rooms which open onto a secluded courtyard that is reserved exclusively for hotel guests. All rooms are designed to sleep two in either king size single beds or a queen bed. Each room is equipped with a private ensuite, mini bar, tea and coffee facilities, toaster and a plasma TV. All rooms are serviced daily.

Hotel Rottnest Accommodation package deal

Package are based on a two night minimum stay per couple.

  • Extended return ferry fares aboard Rottnest Express
  • Rottnest Island Admission Fee
  • Two Nights’ accommodation in a refurbished courtside room
  • Complimentary luggage transfers to and from the hotel

Valid until 30 November 2010. All packages are room only and are subject to availability. Not available on Friday, Saturday nights, long weekends or School Holidays.

Cancellation policy

  1. Cancellation within 14 days of arrival date

    If the customer cancels their booking within 14 days of the arrival date the first nights accommodation is non refundable. The second nights’ accommodation will be refunded and a credit note issued for the ferry tickets.

  2. Cancellation outside of the 14 days

    If the customer cancels their booking outside the 14 days, a $50.00 administration fee will be charged and a credit note will be issued for the remainder amount of the total package cost.

  3. Amendment within 14 days of arrival date

    If the customer wished to amend their booking within 14 days of the arrival date a $50.00 administration fee will be charger, all bookings amended are subject to availability.
